According to leaked recordings, Labor's net zero aim may cost hundreds of billions of dollars.

Following the release of a leaked audio clip in which a shadow minister said that it would take “hundreds of billions” of pounds to achieve Labor’s goal of decarbonizing the economy, James Cleverly launched an attack on the party. The Home Secretary told Sky News, “Today we have the person who would be the number two at the Treasury in a Labor government, and they have basically said that they are hiding the true costs of their green taxes.”

He said that £28 billion was a small sum of money when, in reality, it would be hundreds of billions. That was discovered today, and he stated on the audio clip that they would lie about the figures to avoid embarrassing themselves in front of the media.

During a BBC debate on Wednesday night, Rishi Sunak questioned Sir Keir regarding the news, stating: “Just be straight with people, how many hundreds is it?” Is the number 200, 300, or 400? The leader of the Labor Party, Sir Keir, seemed to suggest that the private sector will also invest some of the money, in addition to the public sector.

“I think the Prime Minister must have put a bet on how many times he’s going to interrupt me,” he joked as Mr. Sunak interrupted him during their conversation.
